0 gauge live steam 2-10-2 steam loco

    Ben, Alan, et al, I need to ask a dumb question. I am not a modeler, but had O gauge equipment as a child. What is the difference between O gauge and gauge 1? Scale? Track width? :confused:

    Fitz, O gauge here in England is 7mm=1ft, where the rest of the world is 1/4"=1ft, with a track gauge of 32mm.

    Gauge 1 here is 10mm=1ft, rest of the world 3/8"=1ft. Track gauge 45mm.

    Why we always have to use different scale/gauge ratios is beyond me :confused: It is also the case in the other scales :rolleyes:
