In N Scale for sure. Because of my eyesight and tremor in my right hand I found that I cannot do such close detail work. And I found someone install decoders for me. I used Bryan's Spillage Loco Works. http://www.locoworks.spillage.net/

But most folks don't need his services. For those who do He does execellent work at a fair price. He's done all 30 of my Locos including steam and desiel from a 0 6 0 Saddle Tank to A pair of Plymouths. to get an idea of his range visit my albums.

    Hi Guys,
The N Scale Bachmann 0-6-0 can be converted to DCC. The motor should be isolated from the frame as in any modification. We have used the Digitrax DZ125 and TCS M1 decoder in these locos with very good results.
The one item that is important to note is the tender track pickup. The older versions of the loco come with a tender that has track wheel pickup on the front truck only. This is a problem on short wheelbase locos. Bachmann now offers DCC ready tenders that provide track electrical pickup on both trucks. These will enhance the operation of the loco reducing stalling.
We also hard wire the Loco track pickup (red-black) back to the tender mounted decoder to avoid issues with intermittent draw bar contact.
the use of flexible decoder wire is a must to keep good tender/loco articulation movement.

These locos are available in many different road names
