Showcase also has a good assortment of Z vehicle kits too. If you want to hone your N skills, assemble a few of their Z kits for a desk diorama.

I'll see what I can do to hook Carter on the Z vehicles when I get to Idaho. Bought a home in Meridian last summer.

    Robert,

Welcome back to Idaho when you get here. But I am not about to attempt any Z scale vehicle kits. I have enough N scale vehicle kits needing assembly to last the rest of my lifetime.:)

I'm glad I got my parts when I did. Train-worx sold out of the parts line already. They will be restocking in early 2017. I built this little truck to match the prototype for a Mill on my line.

Wig-Wag LLC might have those. I believe it is primarily the truck frames and cabs that have sold out.

My neighbor, Hien Nguyen (Hin Win) has literally hundreds of detailed trucks on his N Scale layout. He buys these details in bulk orders, so he won't run out of parts for a project.

Are the wheelbases on Trainworx trucks adjustable? I'd like to model some of the trucks around here and some have pretty short wheelbases.

If you look at a photo of the frames, you will see multiple square sections with round holes in the middle. This allows you to cut the frame to incremental lengths, so a variety of wheelbases are possible.

    Carter

Edit: Oops, they are rectangles, not squares.

In looking at the frames on Wig-Wag's website (http://wig-wag-trains-cart.com/Trainworx/twx-vehicle-kits/twx-decorated-frames-and-suspensions) it would appear you could use one of the tandem suspensions with the single axle tractor frame to get a really short wheelbase.

The really cool thing about these parts is that it is easy to come up with a variety of configurations.

These parts hit another retailer a couple days ago, but they appear to be selling fast.

The frames are easily shortened so you can have a Canadian Spread with sleeper down to a short wheelbase rig or anything in between.

[Admin note: edited to comply with TrainBoard retailer policy]

This one took some work as I removed the cab, tank and battery boxes from a RTR model and applied them to a utility frame.
It required drilling a couple of new holes to mount the cab in a different location to provide more space between the dump box and the back of the cab.
I painted the white tank and battery boxes black, the dump box gray and made the box extensions look more like wood. I also put on Dayton rear wheels.

I had to drill the holes for mounting. For the T800, you only need to drill the lower hole on each side. The upper mirror arm on the T800 just fits where the visor and windshield meet.

On the 379, you just add some glue and slide them into the pre-drilled holes.
