Many great hours spent browsing the aisles there. A shame, but from the sound of things of late inevitable.

My wife Vicki remembers when Montgomery Wards was across the street, and the building caboose is in, was a grocery store her dad said.

This gentleman and his wife well deserved their retirement... I'm just puzzled they didn't manage (or try) to sell their business.

Selling a small businesses is not the easiest thing, especially when you are cutting back on inventory and the new owner has to find a new retail space.

It sure was a real joy to visit, and will be missed. But I sure hope that they both enjoy Retirement

This is certainly a ten on the Richter scale... reminds me of when Orange Blossom Hobbies closed here in Miami. Both of these hobby stores were 'institutions' in their respective markets. When we lose hobby stores of this caliber... the hobby itself suffers. One more place which potential newcomers to the hobby WON'T be able to go to. As hobby stores move away from Brick'n mortar locations to online warehouses... closed to the public... our hobbies exposure to foot traffic declines. Most hobbyist learned about model trains by stopping by hobby stores like Caboose Hobbies and Orange Blossom Hobbies. My interest in the hobby was rekindled at Orange Blossom Hobbies... I'm sure there are many others as well.

I wish the owners well in retirememt... about 50 years caring for a business is tough. I wish they could have sold it to a young energetic hobbyist to keep the hobby alive and active in the Denver area.

I'm sure that it became almost impossible to sell the business when taking into account the over-inflated real estate market in that area. You would not only be buying a business, but having to find an expensive place to put it. Much harder to justify that economically.

That's one less advertiser in the MR press.

So glad I got to visit this shop the times that I did.

Wishing the best to the owners in their retirement.

    Time for my two cents.

Oh $#!+.....! You got that.... right?

We keep losing our best and finest hobby shops one right after the other.

There is a message here and a lesson to be learned. I'll leave you to discern it.

This was an amazing store. I visited a couple of times when I visited my brother in Denver. Sorry to see it close, but Duane and Joanna certainly deserve their retirement after many years of great service to the hobby.
