After a long hiatus, here are a few pics of my portable N scale layout of the Northern Pacific's Stampede Pass. All buildings are built from historical photos. [/IMG]
Here are a couple of pics of Martin, Wa. The buildings are all scratch built. The snowshed is there also, just not shown. The layout is 10' x 8', in a bent dogbone.
Love it!! I have a buddy here who spent some of his growing up years at Lester, his dad was a manager of some sort there. I will definitely get him to see this stuff and see what memories he dredges up!
Martin, Washington getting close to being complete, Still need to paint the backdrop and add lots of little details.
Its 12" Ken, the layout is about 4' off the floor, I have to stand on my tip toes to see over it and I'm about 5'-11".
Thanks, Bill. Sounds about like something I have in mind, for height above floor. Backdrop height is another aspect I have been pondering, and yours looks good for what I'd been considering.
WOW! that is one outstanding layout, and portable. WOW. You give me hope yet to rebuild while I'm in a temporary location. Thanks for sharing. What are the dimensions of your layout Bill? Because I have a small room that I could possible rebuild in but it would be tiny, and would have to be portable so I could move it when I find a house.
Its roughly 8' by 11'. However it can be assembled without the 3' piece with the viaduct to shrink it down to about 8' x 8'. or expanded later on. Also installed Woodland Scenics lighting on all the stations on this portion. I really like the ease of assembly and effects of them.
Painted the fascia on the sceniced portion in North Coast Limited Lowey colors. The backdrop will soon be painted by my wife.
