Yes they sure are nice. But I didn't see anything saying DCC or Sound? Never mind I just answered my own question when I clicked on the individual picture. Full features are listed. It operates on both DCC or DC. Excellent! $499 OUCH I agree my Wallet just squeezed together. But I've paid as much for Overland Models in N Scale. SO I'll just have to figure it in. Quite rare to see detail like this in N Scale plastic

Whew, good thing I am not UP, or my wallet would be squealing too.....

But I hope it is a success so that they may bring out other locomotives!

I have placed a preorder for one of them. It is nice to see them offering DC and DCC w/sound separately. With ESU decoders being the installed sound, the difference in cost makes sense (I know it won't cost them that difference, but it is still a bit less than what it will cost an individual; so a good deal)

I agree, if they can come with a great sound decoder like ESU, it is worth the extra money since it relieves the modeler the time and effort for the installation and programming.

So far nothing for me but then, for some reason, I wasn't expecting anything of interest to me. Awaiting Bachmann's announcements, if any, in a couple of months. Maybe there will be something to get me excited about then. Would have to be something East coast wise like B&O, PRR, N&W, etc. Although lately I have been attracted to lesser roads like the P&S, P&WV and Montour.

I dodged the bullet on this one, it doesn't exactly fit into a modern day short line.

I have to say this thing is a bargain. The A and B units are powered. So figure you are getting two locomotives with sound, detailed for $500. That is a great deal.

Now if we can talk them into make some SD40-2s...

Though I'm not a UP running, these have always intrigued me. Sure hope they are a success for the manufacturer. It sure puts Con-Cor to shame for dragging their feet with broken promise after broken promise.

Though these prices are way out of my budget, I'm glad it meets the needs of those who can afford it. But wait for it…here come the nabobs of negative proclaiming the death of N-Scale once more.

I agree on both counts. Con Cor would have never come out with something that nice and detailed. Well now a day if we want that type of detail; you have to be willing to pay for it. A Overland Model of that caliber would have been that much if not more and still would have DCC or sound. So we are getting a relative bargain actually. But they are expensive I must agree

Will need a turbine, and those FVM GP60's, wow!! First engine I ever ran was a SSW GP60. I've been waiting on those for a long, long time. Just there I'm looking at about $1,000. And there's still all those containers and stack cars and trucks and who knows what else. I think the only thing missing is the new tier 4 GEVOs. (There's still the manufacturer's breakfast tomorrow!) We're living in the golden age of N scale, but some will never accept it. I think it has more to do with our general outlook on life than just this silly little hobby of ours. :)

Are you sure they're both powered? Reading the product description, under "A" Control Unit it states "Powered" and "All-Wheel Drive" - it says nothing about being powered under "B" Turbine Unit.

The description of the first one listed (Road #5) doesn't say the B unit is powered but descriptions for all the rest of the road numbers do state that the B unit is all wheel drive.

    Yes they are both powered.

They look awesome and I think they look just as good, if not better that my brass OMI's.

Now I need to justify the need for 3 more of them.
