A 50' Express Car like the B&O C-15: I have seen pictures of these on other railroads (e.g., Monon), but do not know their designations on other roads. They are 54'-6" over the coupler faces, so would serve well on small layouts, but could also be used in mail trains in large quantities on larger layouts. And, they fit right in with your Harriman coaches and 2-door baggage cars. But, we need the unusual trucks to be right.
An SP forty foot RPO similar to those that ran on Hell On Texas Contractors or the copies that ran on the Pacific lines, later. SP sold one similar to the Virginia and Truckee.
Being very careful where I step here: Your pricing. I LOVE the Harriman cars and the new flats are just great but they are so expensive I can't buy as many as I would like. $44 for a baggage car, $23 for a flat car. I WANT 10+ flats (so I can model the SP Overnight trains that ran from SF to LA), but I have problems spending that much money on something that is just a flat (yes, I'm cheap, I'll admit it). I would like several baggage cars for that same train...we're talking hundreds spent and I still need the caboose and the trailers for the flats (as well as either the silver or black overnight box cars...and don't forget the engines). LOVE your products but I would buy at least twice as much if the pricing was just a little lower. There, I said it. I'm not sorry. Be gentle...
SP definitely had similar ones... V&T 23 was ex-YV 107, exx-T&NO 193, nee-LW. It really didn't cross my mind but that would be an interesting model!!! So would a Burlington shorty... Great Northern was another one that had "shorty" RPOs... I discuss them at the bottom of the page linked too below... http://n-scalevarnish.info/index/Varnish/MT-RPO.htm
I wonder how big the market might be for a lot of MoW stuff...spreaders and plows, ballast cars (don't recall much other than older Walthers), any of the wide variety seen today all over?
Jerry, thanks for the link, those appear to be pretty nice. Are these yours? If they are that's nice work. To answer your question, yes I am willing to put some or a lot of effort into one but however I am not willing to spend that kind of money on anything that should be in the $25 - $30 range complete. Always have fun, Carl
We used to see TONS of KW log trucks, back in the 50's and 60's. We could certainly use some long loggers of that era, such as those which once roamed the Pacific NW.
I would like to see a logger version of the Piggy Packer. And I have sent all the CAD drawing to WOT for this project too.
