Micro Trains was kind enough to give us a total of six prizes, and life got in the way of me running a monthly contest. The last prize is a big one, and to make this a real challenge, we are going all out.

The contest is going for a whole season, and it is to weather a full train set, a loco and a minimum of four cars. All pieces of equipment must have something Micro Trains on it.

Please post before, during and after pictures of your work here. It will be open until Labor Day.

    Here is the prize MTL99301170.1.jpg

How do I sign up for this contest? I'm building a new set for my neighbor boy, and I do have a Micto Trains car. But, I have a feeling that just about anyone here can beat my skill level with their eyes closed!

So try it anyway. You just might surprise yourself and you can't win if you don't enter.

Just gather up what will meet the contest requirements, and give it a try. :)

My MicroTrains Single Dome Tanker is my favorite, and nicest car. Even back a long while ago they were making some beautiful cars, and such fine detail. I'd love to win those cars.

Post pictures as described (before/during/after weathering) and post to the thread, and voila! you're entered!

Thank You! I'm getting prepared. I just have to come up with the money for a door. I have a solid door out in my barn, so I'm thinking about just putting a sheet of Luan on that one, although I'm building the layout for my friend's Son, so I want it to be really nice. Plus I want it to be a full 36" by 82", and the old door is more like 28" wide. I just assembled a sawmill today, so things are starting to happen. I don't have any people working at the mill, so I have to do something about that. They don't run themselves.

Definitely interested in this contest too! Will need to develop a plan for the train to be weathered. Good to see a full 3 months to get it done.

I think giving it a few months is the right way to go, particularly with a mulit-car project or whole train. March and April were back to back multi-car projects and that may have been a factor in the low participation rate. I've been quite busy lately but hopefully will find some time during the summer to put something together for this one.

I am going a little bit beyond weathering, I am going to try to do a full SP work train. I have a Micro Trains horse car that I am turning into a heavy tool car, and a Bachmann crane.....

Hmmm, since I still have to weather that 2-8-2 I did the LokSound install on a month ago; and I have some pristine PFE reefers....

Anyone have any updates? I am modeling a Southern Pacific heavy tool car that was built as a horse car, but it is too hot to shoot the paint

I'm watching videos and ordering paint and other stuff. I'm delivering a layout today for my neighbor boy, so I can start working on my layout (my first railroad, for me anyway.) There are a lot of ways to weather these things.

OK, I'm polishing up my 10 lb, greasy ball-pein hammer to start my "heavy" weathering jobs!
