The tooling shouldn't matter. There is so much demand for this, that any additional tooling cost will be easily covered. These would sell at least as well as the CZ, Super Chief or El Capitan. My only concern is that Kato would understand that the NP PAINTED the stainless grills on the F7's, so they don't need to make them silver like everything else. Either that or just use F3's. Hopefully, we'll see these before too long.
How would you suggest they model the "NORTHERN PACIFIC" lettering on the B-unit grilles? http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/np/np6504Bcca.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/np/np6506Adsa.jpg
I would like to see a UP 'Pacific' series sleeper in Amtrak ph. II or III, and an F40PH in Phase II . Jason
I would like to see the Nebraska Zephyr. Already have the E5 #9911A Silver Pilot. Have rode on several times. Could also have add on set to make the Twin City Zephyr. Would be just a short trip from Kato's Chicago office. Dan
Having scrolled through all 7 pages of wish lists, I am surprised no one ask for an Alco FA/ FB combination. A smooth running, not pulling 1+amp mechanism to pair up with RS1s and RS3s would be a great. Ever run a LifeLike on an N-Trak layout and watch them suck amps compared to Kato, Atlas, Fox Valley, etc? It would take new tooling, but it would be a unique addition to N. Nothing Amtrash for me. Not in my era. Nor would I stoop to running a second class passenger train. Ok, I would but only in the era I'm working in. Grin! How about an AT&SF 4-8-4, Northern? I don't need or want another brand X-B model... "New and Improved" or "Updated"... version of the same old problems from the past. I saw one of these on sale on the infamous auction site starting at $115.00. My first thought was and still is, there will be a fool who will buy it and somehow he or she will think they have the crown jewels. Until it picks the first switch and derails, a gear splits open and/ or it quits running. Have plenty of those sitting on the workbench waiting for parts I can't get. Sucker light has been on to many times in the past. Ever hopeful things would improve. Have they? I can't prove it. Sigh.
I have a long wish list for Kato: E8 in Metra colors Older Metra Bi-levels (white/red/brown) Maxi-I in Rail Bridge livery with K-Line containers SD70M demonstrator (not sure of the differences between the demos and the versions that Kato already makes) SD40-2 in about a million different paint schemes More famous named passenger trains, especially: CNW 400 NYC 1948 20th Century Limited NP North Coast Limited MILW Olympian Hiawatha CRI&P/SP Golden State IC Panama Limited B&O Capital Limited Phew! Feels good to get that off my chest.
I send Kato periodic requests for SD70M demo and lease units. Also the same straight radiator version in Union Pacific http://katousa.com/suggest.html
My wish list is primarily for Unitrack...that they fill out the missing angles for their existing curves. For example 15" 15° & 45° and 19" 30° & 45°. Also, I'd love a couple sets of new radii curves...the next radius under the 19", and the next radius larger than 15". Some better quality terminal joiners would be nice.
I'd actually go with the "steam era" Canadian. VIA had a bunch of early F9B's that look close to Kato's F7B's which ran with the F40PH's on it for providing steam heating.
I would like to see Unitrack straight in 310mm, 620mm and 930mm lengths. These are the lengths of a single, double and triple t-trak module track. The modules are 2mm shorter.
I would also like to see curves greater than 19" radius too. Some 24", 28". 32" and 36 inch curves would be great! The Brass Texas Types have a difficult time on radii smaller than 24 inches. I would also like to see the shells on their locomotives to be more detailed like the Fox Valley units.
Amtrak Heritage cars, ex Santa Fe, UP, etc. in Phase III. (Other phases welcome, but III is missing!)
