I have 3 F40PH. I got mine from FR, but it's no longer available. I get the feeling yours will look better.

I should have said "no one CURRENTLY makes one". I remember seeing it in brass (I think) but couldn't find it listed when I searched. Up until now I wasn't at all interested in one, but having painted so many D&RGW passenger cars lately I wanted to complete my loco roster. And besides, I wanted to see if I could do it!
I hope it turns out nice!

Unless you are hiding the bad ones, all the kitbash you done are museum quality. If you didn't know before, now you know I am a big fan or your work.
FR F40's are pricy, but they are not made of brass. They shell is injection molded. What makes it special is a big can motor and a gigantic flywheel. It runs great and pulls like a F7.

I would go for either a GP9/35 MTL or GP30 AZL
    MTL is closest to size.

for the F40PH youd want to use the F59PHi chassis from AZL, its a solid performer, and the F59PHi is only 2' longer than the F40PH in real life anyway... which would be about 2.5mm which if it really bothered you, you could shave the mech down. also another bonus is you could also use the rear pilot since they were designed like the F40PHs anyway.

but i would also love to see a F40PH make a come back...

Forgive me for not staying current with Z these past 3 years but this looks to me like a Chessie paint scheme? I am most likely incorrect. Please tell us MORE!!!!!

Nice Splice! I've done a couple as NKP ones but they only ever had A units so I didn't need to do a 'B'

Here's my disaster workbench. Surprisingly I can find what I'm looking for on it
One time some years ago my wife cleaned it up and organized everything. It looked really good but I could find a thing. IMG_448.JPG

    Paintshop week
Snowyriver EMD FT in 'reveal' primer coat which is going to be finished in Erie colours. Two of Stonysmith's new Torpedo cars and an etched Nickel Silver MEA open coal wagon in EWS colours

Two of IvanF's Hymek diesel hydraulics, one Class 73 Electro diesel and one Class 24 Diesel electric all in BR Railblue. The yellow Hymek is going to be done in the same faded Railblue as the 24.
