Thanks, very laborious. The prospect of 5 more sides to do is very daunting. Question, is there a consensus on whether I should do all 6 sides, or merely those that can be seen from the front of the table? M
That's an interesting question. If the bridge is going to be there a long time, and would never be used otherwise, perhaps no need to do the far back side. If no photo angles can ever give away the inside of the bridge...?
Those rivets look great! Never would have known they were decals if you hadn't said. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Last night we had a Spartan crew. Ed was busy with NMRA business, Doug had the grandkids and Scott was being celebrated as a volunteer at the Museum of Flight. Cool stuff all. For the rest of us, Wain rocked the turntable area. He started by spraying multiple colors; Umber, tan and gray on the bowl. Between each application he hit the surface with our hair dryer. It really took shape fast: As the evening drew to a close he started adding the fascia: While Bob was doing some fine tuning on the piping, I added trees where the inspiration hit me. I also filled in the footings under the bridge abutments. It was a solid evening's work. More next week. M
Thanks John, slowly but surely it comes together. Finished the primary decals on the bridge last night. Now the cross bracing gets added in and some minor decals on the rivet plates. Then I can paint, rust it up and get it in place. M
Marathon decal session is complete. Tomorrow the paint booth. I want it to be at least a year before I have to decal another rivet!
Just a little taste of what happened last night. Bridge painted, track laid, clearance test passes with flying colors.
Back to biz as usual last night, everyone able to be there and lots of stories to share. Bob made progress on the piping to the chip loader; getting it painted and installing the stanchion. Wain and Scott completed the turntable fascia, including the holes for the turnout controls. Doug added more scenery and trees along the SW wall: Reynold completed this elegant Wisconsin Central boxcar: Yours truly, with Ed's track expertise, put the bridge in place for testing. A pretty solid night's work. Thanks for checking in. M
