HO scale AMTRAK F7A, number 103. Between 20 and 25 years old. Came with 3 passenger cars - one domed, one mail, and one I-don't-know.

Athearn has one out with a B unit right now, but the number is in the center; not the the end as the original was placed. Front end is also different.

    Any idea who made mine? AMTRACK 103 F7A 160425 (4) RIGHT SIDE.jpg AMTRACK 103 F7A 160425 (5) LEFT SIDE.jpg AMTRACK 103 F7A 160425 (9) TOP & REAR.jpg AMTRACK 103 F7A 160425 (6) FRONT.jpg AMTRACK 103 F7A 160425 (13) GUTS.jpg

Well, it is definitely an Athearn Chassis with the Extra Weight installed. The body does look like the Athearn with the Steam Generator detail matching an Athearn F7 unit. I found a picture on HO Seeker of this engine, but the engine number was 154 and it was in the same place as your engine.

So I presume it is an Athearn.

    Thanks.

This morning, right after posting this one, I did my 4th search for AMTRAK F7A 103 (which has been getting loads of hits, but nothing definitive)
this one popped up along with a grunch more on eBay.

Looks like you're right - an Athearn.

Just that weight, truck contacts and the lamp mount screams Athearn.

I have a couple of Athearn F7As and they are very similar inside.

It looks like every Athearn F7 I've ever laid eyes on for the past 30-40 years. If it isn't an Athearn, it's a really good knock off!
