Did we forget about the Northern Pacific North Coast Limited again!!! Must be the "I hate the 'Monad' design" bias Japan has toward Korea... There is no other possible explanation for this iconic passenger train to be missing from Kato' many accomplishments. I mean... lets face it... Kato has done Illinois Central, CNW, Alaska and so on... even though they are not prototypical. Well... this rant will probably continue to put the NCL into the distant future... LOL
I did a quick look and Kato could adapt the DD13 to become a C-415 as the pilot to pilot width is within a scale 2ft of each other. Highly unlikely for Kato to produce of course, but somebody could definitely design a C-415 shell to fit a modified DD13 chassis and swap in AAR trucks and it would be very very close.
Since Intermountain wants to break my heart with the cancellation of Western Pacific locos, I wish Kato would do it's own FP7s, or just a good supply of F units in general.
I think a RTR E-33 and E-44 would be a good choice for Kato to do. Why? They could both share the same chassis, They're electrics, and Kato enjoys the NEC, They could compliment the GG1, and they could come in several road names: the E-44 has PRR, PC, CR, Amtrak, and NJ Trasnsit, the E-33 has (cough) Virginian (cough cough), N&W, New Haven, PC, and Conrail. How could Kato not want to do them? Oh and lets not forget different turnout sizes and especially curved turnouts!
Depending upon your prototype and era, you needn't even have catenary to run one. http://www.railpictures.net/photo/548592/
The plywood patch behind the cab lends a certain charm, plus there are remnants of the prior NH paint scheme peeking out from underneath the CR blue.
Excuse me... but did I miss something here??? I just saw an announcement for 4 new WP FP7 units.... is there new news about them???? Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
Supposedly it's on its way (from where it was rusting away in a museum collection in CT) to the Illinois Railway Museum, with an intermediate stopover at Juniata for some cosmetic restoration work, probably to be redone in CR blue.
Perhaps, but info in the following post suggests otherwise: http://rmne.org/forum/index.php?topic=269.0
