I picked 8 box cars at a small train show for $5.00. All were complete with no broken parts. Here are two of them. The rest will follow.

Seems like alot extra work to hold down a steel coil. Most of the time they are just set between two "blocks" & their own weight keeps them from moving Steel coils can weigh 20-100 tons.

A Funaro kit of a B&O M53 Wagon-Top Boxcar. #381506 is based off a prototype photo of the same car in my Hometown in 1965. I got the door just slightly crooked, I'll get that fixed eventually.

Nice car. I like those wagon top cars. The door tracks probably need some grease so they will slide shut properly ;)

I ran across this tyco tank car at a flea market and bought is for $1.50. It needed some wheels which I put on and it also needs railings and a brake wheel. I thought it was worth the price.

Used to see 100 car unit trains of those Coke cars going thru Fullerton CA on the Santa Fe daily back in 1950s. LOL

Another car I picked up at the same train show is this bright colored boxcar. Walking pass a table on my way out, I heard someone ask "do you have anything for a$1.00, it is all I have left." The seller said sure and sold him a car. I saw this car and asked, is this selling for a 1.00 also? The seller said sure is. So for $1.00, I got this nice car. The makers name is not anywhere on the car so I am not sure who made it.

Here's an early tank car I built a while back. I believe it's a Labelle kit.

From the looks of the bottom, I'd go with Roundhouse. Not a bad buy.

Another car I picked up at the Houston Train Show. I believe it is an Athearn. There are no markings on the car.

My car today is a Bachmann plug door box car. I bought this car at train show for 50 cents. It had 3 pairs of wheels missing but I had spares at home.
