Brass prep before painting

    Thread Title pretty much sums it up..

    .Im looking for any particular idiosyncrasies when prepping a brass engine for paint including prefered primers and recommends on paint brands now that Floquil and Scalecoat have shuttered their facility. This is a steam application and I use a double acting Paasche air brush before I forget to mention what I'm working with.

    I believe one difference may be the thinners used.

    I think Scalecoat (Not II) should be "baked" for a while, so don't use it on plastic. When I used it a decade ago, I just let the painted items sit in my garage for a couple of days in summer in New Orleans. The resulting finish is VERY tough.
