Not model related. Yet! Just recieved a good condition, reasonably priced copy of The Hiawatha Story.
Just got this in the mail today. It's an Atlas Western Pacific GP40-2. I know that I have a couple of New Image GP40s, but I think this is the first Dash 2 that I have. She bootiful! 006 by WPZephyrFan posted Feb 13, 2016 at 3:25 PM
Waiting on things. Not sure I like the PayPal/EBay check out!! by tomorrow afternoon, I'm hoping to complete a 3 locomotive purchase! Hoping to acquire the following: SP Cab Forward UP BigBoy DRGW Challenger All Key Imports models. Should finish off any purchasing I want to do, for a LONG time!! To add DCC/Sound however......... Not sure about that. May stay of shelf as display pieces only!! Interesting, that a couple of them get good grades from Spookshow! Photos maybe, once everything arrives.
Just had the mailman deliver 2 new Atlas 53' Evans DPD boxcars in ARR colors. Paint, decals, and detail are real nice. Brian
I just bought a package of figures. Now I just need to find a discreet location on my layout for the mooners to sit.
Purchase trifecta!! Got ALL of the locomotives I was looking at! If all ship out on Tuesday, I could have them by Friday. Maybe next Monday. All say 2-5 day shipping, so I'll find out shortly! Photos when they arrive. Got: SP Cab Forward UP BigBoy DRGW Challenger All Key Imports models. From what I saw, the BB is a one of run!! And difficult at best, to find! So, I'm gonna consider myself extremely lucky!
I wish!! Pulled more cash, from retirement account, mince I'm still waiting on disability benefits to be provided. Appeal sent in. As usual, waiting begins! So, these units are my last big Hurrah for a while!!
Keith.... It took our great government 12 months and 5 appeals to get my disability. Hang in there !!!
Denied the first time, since I attempted alone. Judge decided that SHE was going to pick and choose what information was going to be used to make the denial this last time!! Seems to have willingly ignored MOST of the information that proved my case! The information and photos of my foot, sent in this time, should help prove my disability case beyond a doubt!! The wait and the fight will go on, as long as necessary! Have my fingers and toes crossed. I'll even try to cross my eyes, if that helped!! Could use ALL the positive help and prayer I can get, to get benefits and back pay also!! In the meantime, train related, at least 2 of the locomotives I just acquired are listed as being shipped. Not sure they'll go out today(Monday) since it's a holiday. Hiawatha set to arrive Tuesday. Can't wait! Photos when I can.
Yea...they will try to wear ya down in denials. Just keep appealing! You have nothing to lose by appealing. You have everything to lose by letting them frustrate you into giving up. Fight the good fight! I hope those great locomotives show up sooner then you expect.
My latest purchase pretty much shows I am mostly a technological dinosaur. Just as I stick with DC control, I am keeping my print collection of magazines and books. 50 years complete of Model Railroader. Over 40 years complete of Santa Fe modeler assn. Warbonnet and its predecessor organizations. Late on doing my New Year's chores, I notice I have not only to start my 2016 box for MRs, but never got a 2015 box! I once bought binders year-by-year but $$$$ ! Several years in cardboard magazine files. And for about 20 years worth, in plastic magazine file boxes, 1 per year. All the latest ones fairly uniform- and I don't want to change the box format every year when I go to buy a couple. Hard to find last several years. WalMart has a mag file that costs too much (even at WalMart!) , and has outward sloping sides that won't sit on bookshelf side-by-side. There was a small office supply that had some a couple years ago like I wanted. Close to downtown office district. I finally got around to shopping for some to get my boxes for last year, this year and next year. Keep em uniform. But they didn't have them anymore. Could order some. But the catalog didn't show anything like I wanted, and what it did have cost to much for $tingy me. I prefer shopping locally when I can get it- but I went online and found what I wanted at a good price with free shipping. Ordered five. Another thing, similar in being both a New Year and dinosaur-technology thing, though not model railroad related. I want to keep a paper telephone and address book. Not in my phone (which is use almost exclusively as a PHONE) but on paper. Hard to find such an animal. In a compromise with technology, I would like a small loose leaf binder with a standard size of small pages pre-punched for binder so I can word-process pages and print them out. Room for a little changing numbers by hand, but when too many of my contacts either move, expire or tick me off, I can reprint revised page.
Just left the hobby shop with 2 pieces of 30" atlas straight track. It's a very old hobby shop, and would be condemned if it was a home It's so junky, and I hate it and love it at the same time. Drives me nuts (which I really understand) that all the N-Scale loco's and car's are hard to look at as they are locked. But that place is so old, there could be a great deal in there. Haven't been there in years!
