I should have hung on to my Dual Throttle Pack...........it would have been worth at least $200! Wait a minute, make that $250 because it would be twice as rare!!!:ROFLMAO:

    Back in the day....

I would buy 'lot' or 'estate' sales of n scale items. Lots of items. Relist them individually starting at .99 (always a gamble). Before long a bidding war would start. Before the end...the items sold for well over market value. I guess competition just drives some people C R A Z Y !!!! LMAO :ROFLMAO::LOL:

I never have such luck. I tried placing some items on feEbay for starting bid of $0.99 and guess what? That is exactly what they sold for. So then I tried pricing things fairly. And items never moved. My luck with feEbay has been that for some reason my items seems to attract the leeches and freeloaders that want a $20 car for free and no shipping!

Understand completely. Been through the same luck myself, once. Never did it again.

And why not pay more for a piece of vintage DCC history? Still in it's original packaging and with the factory smoke still in the board. What a deal!

Good point. Better email the seller about adding this info to their item description. :)

It's one of those gray areas. If you are at a hobby shop and have them test run an item, then do not buy, the next person who comes along still buys it as being new. The same situation might apply here. Gray areas cause a lot of discussion.

Yes, you are missing the fact that some new stuff malfunctions right out of the box. I prefer to buy my engines at LHS or train showes where I can test run them before I pay and walk away. The last engine I bought was tested for me, just after they tested an HO engine that a kid got as a Christmas present. The kid's engine had a really bad wobble when it ran, and the LHS proprietor agreed that it was malfunctioning. BUT, he would not exchange it for the kid, even though he had sold it to the kid's father less than 2 weeks before. Instead, he told the father to drive into Philadelphia (not TOO far from there) and get the Bachmann HQ to give them a replacement. The father agreed, but the kid thought it was a bum deal. I kind of agree with the kid. So, on EBAY, it helps to have them put in the listing that it "runs WELL" so that, if it doesn't, you can send it back for a refund, no questions asked.

Of course, a short video in the listing showing it running would be even better. After all, "runs well" could range from perfection to "Well, it runs."

DrMB said "Of course, a short video in the listing showing it running would be even better." Does eBay provide for adding videos in listing? Can't recall seeing a place to do that, although it has been a couple months since I listed anything...

Maybe the listing has been updated, but it does state "Looks like new inbox."
Curious usage of the tilde (~) as a punctuation mark.
I always test run locos at the LHS. Some run much faster/slower than others and there is the occasional "grinder."
The proprietor claims most customers don't bother and he wonders if they ever run them at all.

I was just thinking of an external link to a youtube video if you can't embed it.

Hum I've never seen any videos showing any MMR items running, but would be a great idea; since you can sure get some duds off eBay. Would be better for the Sellers also to show the overall condition of the item prior to sale/shipping as well
