Attached is a picture of a layout plan I drew out this morning. The plan includes points and industries that were on the actual Youngstown & Ohio River mainline in the early 1900's. As my freelance is a modern version of the road, I think it came together nicely.

The layout will run two 12 car trains and one 15 car train (80 and 100 car coal trains respectively). Empty trains would go to the mine, gulls to the power plant. It will also utilize pusher service in the Van Fossen cut which was referred to as "the summit" on the original line.

Let me know what you think and if you have any thoughts for improvement.

First question has to be what sides provide access or is this an island?
I'm assuming you figured the grade if you're planning pusher service?

I'm thinking this must be for N? What is the design scale here? Looks like it might be four squares to the foot?

The only two side not accessible is the 6' and 30" sides in the short side of the L. The rest will be walk around to access most of the layout. Grades are all 2% or less and yes, N scale with 4 squares to the foot.

On the end at MP31.4, could that be slightly wider? It's apparently 30" now, if 36, a larger radius curve is possible. That inner loop is 12 inch radius or less as is.

I may be able to, but I haven't figured it out for sure. The trouble is not blocking the closet for the sump pump in that corner. As long as I can still open the door, I might be able to widen it a touch.
