Ok peeps, settle down. If the resident Santa Fe guru Randgust says that tue color is good AND the manufacturer shows how they color matched photos, what more can be said?

This remimds me of my two oldest kids arguing about something stupid, both were proven wrong, and both would not give up.

Colors fade, different types of film record the same colors differently, and as someone who has developed his own photos, even the prints can turn out different.

Notice how the red of the FP45's look different?

Yes, people can be passionate about their hobby. Other threads currently active here have participants bemoaning the inaccuracy of of the IM SD40-2's, analyzing the shape of F-Unit noses made by BLI, Kato, and IM, the suitableness of running certain rolling stock in and out of a brewery, or the propriety of Amtrak Painting motive power in honor of Vietnam Veterans (not all are in agreement). Do you think these discussions are "crazy", "anal", or "pissy"?

Or is it just dicussions about paint color that are verboten here? There have been hundreds of threads discussing paint color here in the forums.

There are two kinds of discussion: Constructive and destructive. After all of these years, we know the difference quite well. As this topic has remained open, anyone can easily see how we view it. TrainBoard Staff will let folks know when the drift has gone awry. Until then, converse as you will.

    Guys,

Before this gets to the point that people get upset, let me say that these are the rules for these kinds of discussions:

    1) We do not allow manufacturer bashing on TrainBoard. We support manufacturers. I have not read this thread word for word but I don't think there has been any bashing. It looks to be respectful, and we all know that BLMA provides quality products.
    2) It is allowable to point out what color something is or isn't and how it is different than something else. Model railroaders like to talk about things like that even if it falls into the realm of what most people consider "minor details." However, these discussions have a limit and at some point all will be said that can be said about the color of something.
    3) If people don't like the discussion, they should move on to the next thing that interests them. Some people will enjoy the discussion about the shades of paint on a boxcar and others could care less. Fair enough.

We are not going to argue about whether or not we should argue, and we aren't going to allow a discussion to get into manufacturer bashing (which I don't think that it has at a cursory reading).

Well, since I wasn't the only one to notice, maybe a thorough reading would be in order. Discussion is one thing, trying to force ones views on others simply because others doesn't see it...well enough said..I cant speak for other discussions about color of how other units were built, I chose to read this one. If they all end up like this, then ill stay away from these types of threads and take your advise and move on down the tracks.
