Where was that BN photo taken? The bottom one is a famous post card view. This is an eastward train , just barely west of Glacier Park (civilian name "East Glacier"), Montana.
The bottom photo of the GN Empire Builder is a oldie from GN advertising. I took the BN photo at Olequa Wn. not far from Castle Rock
I wouldn't mind adding some Santa Fe hardware to my collection. Santa Fe and Southern Pacific cut Arizona in half horizontally, SF in the north, SP in the south. So I think I can get away running both on a freelance layout. I like Western Pacific and D&RGW as well although it's unlikely I'll ever own any of their locomotives.
I have the one SF locomotive (classic silver and red war bonnet F3), I guess that's a start. It seems like when it comes down to spending the money, I find myself having to buy SP locomotives.
Nice photo's from the SP. Speaking of the 1970's - I saw an SP trailer in one of the photo's. I've been having a hard time finding photo's of SP TOFC - can you point me to some? Cheers, Jim
SP rebuilt all the Alco C-628's and C-630's for yard service in the mid 1970's and renumbered them to the 3000 series at that time.
