I think this is the second release of Athearn's 57' Mechanical Refer, with Sound. I happened to notice them this morning at an etailer and purchased a couple.
So there you have it your FYI

What does the sound even sound like? Just a bunch of white noise?

Man, I need those UP Chilled Express reefs!

They probably sound like the refrigeration unit on a semi-trailer.

I think you're right; there was a You Tube video if I'm not mistaken awhile back that put me on the look out for them, because I like the sounds they produced

Hmmm. Well, I'll likely pass on these. But when they do ice bunkers where I can hear the ice melting and dripping.... Ha ha.

This topic seems to be in the Inspection Pit. I'm thinking it might fit better in the N Scale Forum area.

Hmmm. I can see where that might get a bit annoying during a long operating session.

Just picked up four of these, and while they are beautiful models Athearn unfortunately put the ride height at the 'off-road' setting. Usually I lower cars using BLMA's trucks, but it looks like the BLMA trucks won't work here because of the diameter of the center hole. Anyone have any ideas on how to lower these cars?

My one and only arrived today, looks good, once the sound is turned down it is an interesting side light to the train room. One is enough. Bob.
