Good Morning Guys and Gals , Here is a link to the video of yesterdays run day at the N Scale Southern New Mexico N Scalers Layout. Thanks , Mike
Perhaps what I have enjoyed most is seeing it all documented from the very beginning of construction. Fascinating being able to follow to the point we see today.
BC, I'll add my two cents worth by saying that we are a very informal group of men and, at this point, lady that get along real well together. If we have a disagreement we take out a 2x4 and resolve the issue, quickly. NOT! Actually we have a real core group, of varying talents, that have all contributed to achieve the results that we see . A real achievement IMHO. We have kept the club simple and we are not burdened down with "rules and regulation". Yes, we have some that are written but again very basic casual rules that do not get in our way of having fun. After all, our #1 purpose with this endeavor is to present and sell the model railroad hobby to young kids and to hopefully recapture an older fan, such as ourselves. Me personally, as a member of a now defunct "El Paso and Southwestern" club and a member of the "New Mexico RialruNners" of Albuquerque, I find that many guys and gals will not join into a club, in order to enjoy their hobby, because they are afraid or just plain do not want to be burdened with the formality and "politics" of a club. Oh, BTW, our #2 goal is : At all times to " Run trains and have FUN ". Carl
Nice and thanks for sharing Mike & Carl. Hope I can make it down your way sometime and see it live along with meet some of the members
Very! Nice! Fund Raising Idea: Sell 'Named Spaces' or cars or ? Many hospitals and other places 'sell' the name of a given location within the hospital.
Yep those are great ideas but we do not get enough traffic to the building to promote anyone business effectively. The building belongs to the county and we are working to get the county to repair it for us. Thanks for the suggestions though. Mike
Mike, Tell your other club members that the layout looks great! And even runs the same! There are good functional clubs around, if a fella just looks. Thanks for sharing and all you do to promote N!
Thanks Mike, really interesting video as always. Love that long Covered Hopper Train. And the scenery is awesome
Video was great as always Mike. Love to watch you guys running trains. Had to laugh however at the 'heating' sequence at the start. The torpedo heater with electrics to maintain that heat. As the saying goes..."It's like déjà vu all over again." I start THE RV and use the heat from the vents in the dash to warm it up inside then shut off THE RV. Then ...if it's really cold outside...I run the RV furnace to maintain the heat. If its not all that cold...I use a small electric space heater to maintain the heat. If I could use a torpedo heater...without fear of burning the THE RV down....I could have it toasty warm in there in less then 1 minute !!!! LOL
Thanks so much George , There always seems to be things we do to stay warm or cool, right? Have fun George, Mike
Mike, hate to say it, but this is the first time I've seen your club videos. Aside from the excellent scenery, I'm really impressed by the smooth gentle trackwork, even in the staging yard. Thanks
