What happened to the post counts that showed up under peoples names and information? I really liked being able to tell who was active and who was new based on those counts.
And, again, new terminology. It's no longer "post counts", but "messages", differing I suppose from PM style messages...or inbox messages.....seems the old term of "post count" was a bit more descriptive in nature. Dave
Unfortunately, when one software developer emulates another, there all too often (it's a vicious mega-billion dollar game) next comes costly copyright/legal issues. It's not just the underlying code, it's also appearance. So they use different, yet essentially synonymous words/wording. So, WYSIWYG.
Yup. But as many odd issues the old and young folks seem to be having with this "new" software, mostly it seems with nomenclature and location...we could use a php-xenforo glossary as a sticky. Railimages: Media Post Count: Messages. Grapevine : NOT highball
Personally, I believe they changed to using "messages" instead of "posts" to fit in with the social media trend just like they changed terminology back when the internet started to have more influence in the computer world. They made file listing pages look like internet pages, for instance. Doug
The pace of change is ever faster. It's all driven by the dollar. We go with what they produce. We input what is possible and move ahead.
So now it takes two clicks to see the count where before it was already visible. That is a step backwards
Paul, All you have to do is single click on the person's avatar to see their post count. I am of the opinion that the number of times that a person has posted is sort of a secondary statistic. Charlie
I don't think it's a necessity, but it was a "nice to see" thing. Clicking on their avatar/name isn't a big deal though.
When I reach 50,000, I win ten million dollars, a beautifully restored '67 'Vette Stingray 427, a private island and......
The last time the format was changed, I lost a couple of thousand ... donno why that would happen! But then, I don't post much of anything unless I have something to say.
So did I. Many thousands. I believe at that time, any RailImages uploads and comments had been counted, and those all disappeared.
Exactly, which is why 10 million dollars scales down to $114,900 in HO Scale. I'm sure Ken will settle for that.
