I would like to know whats up with all the pink and the lines of text that are too faint to read? Also the age of the posters should be shown again as I like to know how to respond to posters by their ages. New ain't always better.
It's nothing bad, so not a worry. You get so many, you get recognition by____. We also have "likes" just as with other social media.
When you see the pink highlighting, what you are reading is quoted text. As to faintness, that could be how your screen settings have been chosen. Contrasts, etc. It is a different font, and I believe one notch smaller than reply text.
Just a comment. I HATE social media. I pick up the phone or drive over for a visit. I dislike intensely Faceplant and google+ whatever icons on websites. I know how to kill them so I don't have to look at them, and they are gone. I have seen ratings, likes and all of that taken to extremes on forums I USED to participate in. Personal Opinion. And, yes, I'm an old guy.....no dcc, dial phones still in the house, vacuum tube radios, Flathead Fords in the driveway, and XP until they bury Gates...just because.
Essentially, this site and others of similar construction are a form of social media. It comes in many packages. Even email is a variant. I really doubt it will amount to much on this site. We've had it in the past, and it was mostly ignored. The points thing is automated, so folks cannot input manually. We'll see what happens. Some things are graven in stone, others subject to change. We've only had this new iteration up for a few days now. It is mostly in a basic form, as we get re-started.
NO dcc. After my run-ins with one proponent, I won't. If track power, Marn-0-Stats (have 6-1/2 lineal feet of them). However: For over 20 years my big railroad (running with 8 folks right now) is fully radio/battery. Aluminum rail, zero track power. I wouldn't even want to try track power or it's dcc variant outdoors. My basement is All-Trol. You'll have to look that one up. HiRail, NP, AC power. Fairly big..in the middle of some rework of some yard areas now. Dave
I'd bet that most of what was changed is under the hood, where newer is almost always better. After a short period where the admins tweak and we get used to it, it'll probably just run smoothly and we'll never even think about it. Which is exactly how it should be. Thanks for the hard work.
