Look at the Micro Trains SW1500, they made on with a full SP light package and number boards. I have one. The entire run sold out. One huge hole in the 1970-86 Southern Pacific N Scale roster is the U33C. To make a SP correct model, only 4 additional parts would be needed. You would need the roof light, bell, extra battery box and rear light package. These parts could also be used for the U25B and U30C.

I don't embed photos that are not mine.

Additional for an *early* U33C, such as my MILW bought (delivered mid-winter of 1968), were the tapered leading edge radiator fairings.

    Rich,

If you are not getting there until Thursday, I will save a ballot for you so you can vote for the N Scale Vehicle of the Year Awards Friday morning at the Swap-A-Rama.

I'm looking forward to where the 2017 National N Scale Convention is going to be held. I vote Jacksonville, FL or Baltimore, MD.

    Ike,
I'd give you a ride, but Friday is my wedding anniversary and my wife gets to call the shots that night.

The convention sites rotate through Central, West, East. The 2014 convention was in Roanoke, which is "East" so the 2016 edition will be in a "Central" location. That location will probably be announced sometime during the convention this week.

Isn't the 2016 location already set for Kansas City?
    Or did you mean 2017?

    All-

2016 is indeed already announced. At the request of some of our members, we advanced the announcement of the next convetion site for planning purposes. We are working on the site for 2017 on the East Coast, and are looking at a lot of sites that we have not been to previously.

    The requirements are:
1- a good group of modules willing to show their work to the community
2- layouts within a short driving distance
3- adequate hotel space at an "N Scaler" friendly price per night (harder to find than you might think!)
    4- easy airport access
5- good "train stuff" to do in the area
6- fun events for the attendees
7- good "not train stuff" to do in the area

If you have a suggestion with all of that, and a good local support group, we are all ears! Right now we are looking at Savannah, Nashville, Cincinnatti, and New England. There is no front runner right now, so other suggestions are welcome. It will be discussed in depth at the convention.

Oh I know. I've attended these conventions since 2011. 2017 is due back on the East Coast.

Baltimore has the train museum there, a very nice hobby shop, and several N scale clubs. I could also bring up my layouts from Florida!

Is the Atlas catalog for the second half of 2015 likely to make its debut, or will it be held for the Portland NMRA show?

It was nice to see the new Trainworx detail parts in person. The plows are very nice, no need to try and find Sunrise weedcutters anymore.

PWRS has a bunch more hoppers coming out, they are all gold plated.

Kato had the Kobo custom cabooses.

I have to give a shout out to Mike Fifer, he is one of the nicest people I met at the convention. I'm glad I got to chat with him there.

It was great for me. I was able to get what I was looking for for less money than I had paid previously.

There were good things to see. Trainworxs was a busy table, his trailers were the hot items. PWRS had models of all there new runs coming, that you could handle. Atlas had production samples of locomotives that are coming (sd60m's for me). Intermountain was informative about upcoming runs. Finally Charlie Hopkins had some amazing custom loads for all types of flat cars.
It was my first national convention, and was definitely worth going to.
