    Hello folks,
In my beloved AZL Mikado, I have a TCS Z2. In the box in the photo I have a TCS WOW101 Steam. Each can be individually turned on or off, and the sound from the WOW goes out to an old stereo amp (which wires aren't shown in the photo). I tried giving both units the same DCC address, but they didn't really seem to be in sync (WOW going much faster than the Mikado was moving). So I'm wondering, what's the best way to link the two so that what I tell the Mikado to do with my PowerCab will result in appropriate sounds from the WOW? (I'm not very accomplished yet with DCC programming, obviously.)
    Thanks very much,
    Tito

The same Address will be sent to both so they should be in sync. However, you need to change the CV's (Configuration Variables) on the WOW Sound decoder (make sure the locomotive is off the track). It is expecting to make cylinder chuffs based on 1 to 128 Speed Steps. Your AZL locomotive is maybe only using 1- 17 Speed Steps.

With the loco off the track, and the WOW Sound connected; refer to page 48 and 55 of your Power Cab manual.

On the Power Cab, press 'Prog/Esc', 4, Enter. This will put you in the Programming mode.
Press 2 to change just a CV
Press 5 (CV? = 05) for Max Speed Step. (you just need to press '5', you do not have to enter 05)

Try entering the Speed step that you were running. WOW may not even come close to so you may have to keep trying different values for CV5 so it 'matches' your loco 'chufs'.
Try a value of 50, Enter (if you make a mistake entering a value, just keep pressing numbers, it will wrap over and start again).
Now, you have to also enter the Mid Speed Step, CV=06. Enter half the value of CV5. In this case, CV6 = 25.

Press Esc to finish or press anytime to abort. You do not have to save anything when programming but if you are anywhere in the programming and either aren't sure or just want to quit, press Esc.

Thanks Jeff--that helped, although I find that the engine speed isn't very consistent--I suppose my track and/or wheels are dirty.

Anyway, now (and maybe before--I didn't try before) the chuff volume isn't adjusting. I've tried the audio assist, I've tried programming CVs 201-204 for chuff. I can turn down all the other sounds (the brakes, compressors, generators, couplers, everything) just not the chuff. I've reset the WOW to factory settings a couple of times, and sure enough, the whistle and bell (and all the miscellaneous random sounds) go back to the defaults, but that doesn't help with the chuff volume. Someday, maybe I'll figure it out.
