Thanks mr.dean, going to see it tomorrow for the send off.
I believe the return to Roanoke is the 30th.

Oops! Papahnash, you are correct. Tomorrow is the big celebration not the send off date. That's what I get for posting at 2:00 am in the morning! :eek:hboy:

Here is another. Warning: Geniuses standing right next to video camera, shooting stills. I don't understand why folks don't step away, so we don't constantly hear their shutters banging. :( Talk about annoying! :(

Nice video Boxcab. I hadn't seen that one. Nine passenger cars and two tenders... and NO diesel back up! Gotta love it!

That's a LOT of smoke there - is that being done on purpose as a big "HEY! We're Back!!" or is that just the way she runs? I thought I had heard/read that a steamer that was dialed in doesn't really lay out that much smoke (boring for railfans,) but I'm a diesel generation guy so I don't know any better.. Cool to see her back under her own power either way.
    :)

    Cheers

Boy, it sure is great to see that beauty running once again. Ken, I have been guilty of the shutter clicks while trying to get both video and stills simultaneously. Smoke--the first few are steam condensation, but there sure is smoke on that one run. Either the engine was working hard or the fireman was goofing around for photographers. She is a coal burner, so some smoke may be there at all times, but a good fireman could keep to a grey mist. THANKS, Mr. Dean.

Some of it depends upon the temperature and humidity. Looks like mostly condensing steam plume.

    mr.dean,

BIG turnout, great fun, I talked to the publicity director for Fireup611, she praised all the volunteers and the project mechanics for their dedication. She was amazed that just 12 months age it was moved from Roanoke to Spencer for the restoration. :)
