I have two fairly new N scale Bachmann locomotives and I'm running them with NCE's PowerCab. They're an Alco S-4 and Alco RS-3, and the decoders came factory installed. Every few minutes, the locomotives hesitate and then resume, almost as if the system was re-setting or something. They will sometimes do this simultaneously, but not always. I'm not losing addresses or anything, but occasionally when this happens the headlight will turn off (if on), yet the cab indicator still shows that the headlight is on. This doesn't happen with my Atlas locomotives. Is there some odd quirk with Bachmann equipment?
I've cleaned the wheels but not the contacts. Good suggestion, I'll give that a try. The part that's really throwing me is how both Bachmann locomotives will hesitate at the same time sometimes, while my Atlas locos are unaffected.
