Looks like Kato will officially be announcing the ACS-64 and Amfleet I cars (and other items) on Monday: http://www.blwnscale.com/kato-amtrak-acs-64.htm Great news! Chris
What's the probability that those "other items" might include an AEM-7? Is there no appetite in the marketplace for a model of the "meatball" in N-scale? Now all that's needed to make a complete train (in addition to the already available Viewliner sleeper) is a heritage diner and some Viewliner II baggage cars:
Lets hope that they are doing the Amfleet and not foobied Amfleet II cars... would be welcome if they are releasing the earlier cars for a lot of modelers!!!
I wish I think the likelihood would be super small... personally I would rather have the AEM-7 though. I'm hoping the other items are Viewliner IIs!
I'm in! It can join my collection of high speed electric trains. I sure do wish they'd make the Acela.
It would be hard to foobie the Amfleet II cars -- unless the second door is painted on In other news...time to sell my Bachmann Amfleets!
How do you know? BLW lists the coaches and lounge with the Amfleet I road numbers. That would be a bad move to put Amfleet I numbers on Amfleet II car bodies!
As I stated on another forum, I will quit this hobby if they bring out an Acela too... Hard enough wanting to model mid 90's Santa Fe and all their beautiful superfleets!! But the Amtrak lover in me will die if I can't have NEC Stuff that actually runs. Lol And yes I agree a toaster is much needed in N scale too... But someone better cook up some NEC/PRR style catenary for us...
I sure hope they plan on offering the locomotive separately. I don't want to have a buy a $250 trainset just to get my hands on one... Cheers, -Mark
In light of recent events, is it likely that Kato will change the roadnumber for the engine before the set reaches production?
Actually it would be easy... just give them numbers that don't belong and you've got foobies. Thankfully Kato is doing Amfleet I, a natural extension on what they have already done with the Amfleet II... but picking the number #601 may not have been the best choice, especially so what with this engine now being a piece of scrap metal, what with the derailment in Philly.
