Some more mayhem here at CESM this morning, and something has come up that will not allow us to produce this model at the current time as a full kit. However, this unit is going to be available on shapeways to fit on the atlas B23-7 chassis. We will also offer etched brass details, available directly from our website.

We will now be refocusing our efforts on another prototype, the RP20BD. It is similar to the Genset, but is build by a different manufacturer. We will keep you posted about updates.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    David

    Hello all,

Thank you for your interest in the N Scale 3GS21B. As you may have seen on our website, we will not be able to do injection molding or complete kits because of the immense risk and the production capabilities we lack at the moment. We are offering 3D printed shells and etched brass sheets on our website at http://www.cescalemodels.com/#!n-scale-3gs21b/c1rkk you will need to source the rest of the components yourself.

A Bill of Materials is available at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=737605033 so you can build your own model.

We are also offering custom builds if desired, please email us if interested.

We are now refocusing our efforts on the RP20BD locomotive, and we will keep you posted with news when we have it.

    Thank you for your support!

    NRE 3GS21B Window Glazing

We are currently going through all of the required development to get a set of laser-cut windows made for the 3GS21B locomotive shell we made in N scale (if you haven't seen it yet, you can get more details at www.cescalemodels.com under the "N Scale" tab). Price will be $14.99 with an expected availability of early next month.

    Thanks!

Has the price of the FUD printed shell gone up? I remember it being much cheaper when these first came out. I understand the new printed material being a little higher but it seems to have had a big jump. Thanks for the explanation.

The price of the shell has indeed gone up. We have been faced lately with increased expenses and the want to create new products but are facing a lack of funds. In addition, the price of the raw shell without markup is very high. This creates a situation in which we have no choice but to mark it up, due to the design time and cost involved. Finally, we have sold most of the shells that we will be selling, and we are mostly seeing onesie-twosie buying, so the setup costs are higher.

We are committed to bringing down this cost in future locomotive releases, and we are investigating how we can get our parts done in resin casting or injection molding (for real this time) so that you (the customer) does not see such a high price. The best thing modelers can do now is continue to support us and wait for the next release. Once we get a few more releases done, we hope to begin discontinuation or re-tooling of all of our most popular models to decrease costs and give me back my sanity (filing FUD shells for RTR models is not my favorite activity).

    Thanks!

Well, I had a few lined up to do for some "customers" but with the price increase the 2 individuals couldn't justify it. They were good with the original price but the increase pushed it over the limit. Oh well.
