That's it. The logging extension is 30" x 60" and I have had as much/more fun with it as I did building the large layout over the last 25 years. Sorry about the video - I didn't notice that the camera was pointing down at the time. Here is most of the logging area: http://s1110.photobucket.com/user/alhoop1/media/logging.jpg.html?o=14 Al
My wife teaches High School so she is home during spring break with chores for me - less time for tains. Even though I'm retired, we had to pay this year, so taxes had an impact on my train budget (ugh) John
Finally got time to look at this li'l thread. What a ride! Al - It's great to have a seperate building for the trains, and that new roof is a great investment in trains, really! Mionne - When you get that RV up and going, feel free to stop by if you end up in the eastern MT area. I manage and live in a trailer park with several rv spots. Spring break doesn't mean too much anymore, kids are mostly grown and or fairly independent. But it does mean that my contracting business gets a LOT busier! Taxes? Don't want to get depressed.......
I guess everyone has different things and ways of using their time during this season. I asked this question because traditionally March is a very busy time for the shop (which I thought was sort of unusual)as folks generally plan trips, spend time with kids and grand kids as well as preparing their taxes. I was just trying to get thoughts as to what folks do as spring blooms. The is pretty interesting. Robin and I do not have much taxes to contend with and kids do as they please. We generally have lots of yard work to do but the pollen outside makes it slow going for a while. Thanks to all of you guys! Have fun! Hope the tax man is generally good to everyone. Mike & Robin
Well, now that my wife finally retired, we are taking a lot of trips before our health declines and we are unable to do so. I seem to be "out of town" more than ever now and don't get much modeling done.
Congrats on the retirements and hope you all have fun. The model railroading will still be there when you are in the mood to do some or have time. Mike & Robin
Winters take a heavy toll on my health, so spring is when I'm really at my lowest point. Right now I can barely type much less do modeling. Less modeling means fewer purchases, of course.
Spring Break and Tax Season, Affect You??? Kids are all grown and on their own doing fine...no spring break worries. They call or stop by...now and then. Dont make enough on Disabilty to have to worry about taxes....or ability to buy any train 'stuff'. How does all this affect me... Hmmmmmmmm
Yeah... I heard of that too... but I'd rather find out for myself. Spring break here in SoFla is the official end of Snowbird Season ... the season where all the wealthier folks from up in the northern USA and Canada come down and clog up the roads with weird driving and bad manners. Spring break itself has its own issues with domestic and foreign youths doing crazy things too. Tax season has been okay for me the past 10 years because I loan the US Government about 30% of my income... and then claim whatever I can get back when I file... normally getting a decent return... interest free of course. Most people state that doing that is foolish because we should shortchange the government... invest the excess we receive... then pay the government back. My problem with that is that any extra money I keep... I don't 'invest'... I spend. I'll continue to loan the government the money interest-free and ask for my refunds... it motivates me to file quickly too.
I hope you start to perk up Youngster! Good to hear from you and get better soon. Thinking of you , Mike & Robin
When it gets warm, over 70 in the garage, I can paint the Shermans I have been working on all winter. Yes, I do N and 1/35 Shermans. My wife will not let me spray paint in the basement, says the smell really bothers her. So, I brush paint the RR stuff until the weather warms and I can spray paint OD on the Shermans in the garage. I only have 5 Shermans to paint after this winter and then do final assembly, decal, weather and place onto a scenic base.
Thank you for your kind thoughts, you two--and thanks most especially for calling me "Youngster"! I woke up able to use my right hand. I'm not even going to ask why. I'm just going to celebrate--by working on my layout!
