I want Kato to do a Standard U.P. Turbine, and a Veranda U.P. Turbine and do them in several configurations (with and without tenders, various intake and vent arrangements). To accompany these models, they'd need to do a proper U.P. CA-5 or CA-6 caboose too...or even better, a proper CA-1. This would be their first foray into true USA freight locos so they'd also produce several common U.S. freight cars to go along with it, including a proper U.P. stock car and other common transition era freight cars that simply aren't available out there right now. Additionally, they will develop two significant new products: (1) A scale sized and exactly detailed N-scale coupler to accompany their new freight car line getting rid of any slinky-effect and (2) Finely detailed U.S. prototype Unitrack in code 46 which will greatly surpass their present design in sales, and will include flex track for added versatility. This, of course, will be a huge success for them and start a major transition into the U.S. marketplace, eventually leading them to be the most prolific quality N-scale freight engine and freight car manufacturer with the U.S easily surpassing Japan as their top market segment. Hey...I can dream.. Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
So the Mikado was not a "true USA freight loco?" What about the GP38-2, GP-50, SD40, SD40-2, SD45, SD70ACe, SD70M, SD70MAC, SD80MAC, SD90MAC, AC4400CW, C44-9W, ES44AC, C30-7 AND U30C - are those not also "true USA freight locos?"
The Concors U50 was manufactured by Kato. To design a new version with all wheels powered would be quite a challenge.
Too small a market but I'd love a MBTA commuter rail set including the Bi-Levels, GP40Xs, FP40s, and MP39s all done in the purple stripe theme. Then again, I also want to hit the lottery. Speaking of GP40Xs. I'd like one in CP red with the multi-mark.
I meant "transition era" freight loco, although Kato's F's qualify as transition era freight locos. AND...it's MY dream, so I'll dream it the way I want to! LOL! Truthfully, I just forgot about all of those other Kato freight engines since I am myopically concentrated on transition era UP, SP, D&RGW and WP motive power. My bad. I'd love to see what Kato would do with some GP7's and GP9's...maybe some GP9-B Units too???....or some GP7's with low headlights??? The dream just keeps getting better! Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
Late Production SD40-2, but with IM's SD40-2s coming it will be interesting to see what Kato does and how good the IM units are. As a PC guy I'd also like to see more PC passenger cars and engines. Also a correct NS Dash 9 would be nice and I'd also like a standard cab version too.
It would be nice if Kato retooled the GP50 but I think it's more likely to come from FVM or Atlas. I'll be in for a BN and Santa Fe.
For me, Kato missed their chance with E6s and E7s. I got what I wanted by putting the very nice Life Like shell over the Kato mechanism. And more recently, I've gotten sold on the Broadway Limited E units and PAs. One thing Kato does better than anyone else, however, is prototype passenger trains (and I don't mean the smoothside foobs). I'd be game for a 1948 NYC 20th Century (behind E7s or E8s) or a 1937 Super Chief (I'd use LL E6 bodies over the Kato E unit mechanism). Rick
