Found time to work on a project I started ages ago. Nearly finished, a few bare trees and maybe a fence to add, here are some preliminary staged shots while the glue dries...

I see what you did there :teeth:.

Very nice! What did you use for snow?

    Thanks guys!
The snow is the Woodland Scenics product. The grain size is really too large, I have heard that marble powder is good, I might try to get some of that next time :)

Nice! I can almost hear that snow crunch under my boots, as I set up with my camera...

Phil, nice scene. The right amount of some on the trees and terrain. The roadbed ties look right too. Black & White photo really helps too.

A little dirt, grime and rust on the loco with just a bit of snow on the pilot and walkways would look awesome!

Very nicely done. FWIW, AZ Rock & Mineral marble dust is what I used on my ROW and Hydrocal sifted over scenery is what I used for my snow scene in N scale. "Flocking" the trees off-scene with the snow product makes a very convincing scene when planted.

I think you did a fantastic job as it is!

This is the heavier snowfall I was trying to capture: http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/1014/DRGW_5510E_T25_Train_718.jpg

Thanks guys! The grain size is a bit too large, so I have aimed for a "wet" look, like during the first thaw.

Jeff- all the photos are full colour. I "auto-corrected" the colour balance in photoshop, but otherwise untouched (hence you can see marks on the workshop wall in some of them)

Hemi- I would be worried about the hydrocal "yellowing" over time, as plaster can sometimes, what has been your experience? I have heard about marble dust, I am ordering some and will try it on the next one!

    Cheers!

Stickboy, the layout is crated up for another move. When it gets to the next place, unpacked and set up again, I'll let you know. So far, almost 2 yrs later it's not been a problem.
