I am considering starting a new TB Group for people who model N-Scale on a 2x4 size board. This us usually folks with limited space for some reason or other or people wanting to create super detailed small layouts for displays or for shows. Is there any interest in having a specific TB Group just for this? Again this would be for compete layouts built or being built on a 24" x 48" table/board.

Please select your answer in the poll above. Thanks,

    John

If there's not enough interest for a Group, you can certainly post about it any time here in N Scale.

Well,it's certainly not my primary focus,I have a room sized layout in progress, but,I am working on a small logging railroad bases on the LV logging & ice operations near Lopez,PA,just ordered some ME C55 for it Monday....I'm also planning a longer, narrower point to point industrial complex based on Bethlehem Steel for my little switchers,so,I'm in,LOL!!

Actually we have only 28 Groups right now, 22 model RR and 6 railfan. Over the years we've pruned those abandoned and unused. I can see a couple which may be retired soon.

Yeah, you ain't kidding..My Fallen flag isn't even listed.I had something to post about CP Rail, figured if I put it here,it would get moved..I went to the CP forum, when I clicked on it,a dead cricket fell out of my computer..Maybe talking about small N railroads is best left here where we'll see it..

Oops. Argh. Sounds like you mean our Fallen Flags? Actually I was referencing TrainBoard Groups. A lot of folks don't even know we've had them for years.

There have been other Fallen Flags. But after people asked to have them added, they had no action, so we consolidated them. :( Gotta work a bit to make things go!

Making ALL real train activity one big forum might attract me,as it is,it's almost funny..I just went through the entire Fallen Flags & railroad forums,at the moment, there are more moderators than posts in the last week.I posted something about CP in my area, might as well have written it on a rock, and threw it on my porch..

I saw and read that after you'd posted. Actually there was a topic on the sale a week or so back.

Since the Fallen Flags were condensed, (as I recall, something possibly to do with page length limitations), they've been less visible and less active. The only way to make something happen is to make something happen.

Where was that? I looked before I posted about the sale, there were only 5 threads in 2014..
Seriously,I like this forum,if real railroads were all just put together,I'd look at it,and try to add to it.I think most of us would be interested in it "all",but jumping through ten dead forums is just mind numbing. At least "East","West","North","South" would be interesting,or just fallen flags & modern railroads..
I belong to The Railfan Forum, for a long time,it was great, really active. The whole thing was divided into seperate RR's,LV,D&H,CNJ,ETC..It was great, but now nobody posts, since most of us have said what we had to say,not like a RR that went belly up in 1976 is doing anything new lately..Now,the forum is divided by a common interest, nobody posts anything anymore..

    I don't know about a TB "group".
Here is one of my favorite 2x4 layouts, the Norton Brothers Connecting RR. Four turnouts, two scenes.

But why just 2x4? I went to 30" wide for one layout but kept the length to 40". Built in 10 days.

And my current little layout is only 75% of 2x4. It's 2x3.

And sometimes, four inches of extra width would help a lot.

So maybe a Micro Layouts or Sub-HCD group would be more appropriate?

Kenneth,I'm thinking just that on the 2X4 logging setup I posted on the first page..I only made it 2X4 because 4' is half the basic length of standard lumber,I started with a 2X8 sheet of styrofoam..The more I've been looking at it recently,an extra 6" in length would improve it immensely,I may even narrow it a bit....I'm thinking of splitting the foam right up the middle, and adding six inches to one end of the frame.I'll move one side over to the end,and graft into the middle..
