New coating for 3D prints from Smooth On..

    Just got this from Smooth On..A coating for 3D printed objects that gets rid of most of the striations..Sounds interesting..Wonder if it would wipe out detail on a printed shell?

    For our uses, I don't know that this would be practical. It seems to be a very thin kind of A-B epoxy, much like what a lot of us use as an adhesive. And given what the video states (a 1/64" layer applied to fill in the striations) you're essentially adding 2.5" (scale) to each surface. Would at least distort details, and most likely fill in finer surface textures. I don't doubt that it's a very useful idea and product for many applications, but it sounds like too "heavy-handed" an approach for small scale models.

    Having worked with several 3D printed 18 wheelers, I would agree whole heartily with Eagle2. Not quite the stuff for N scale but perhaps the start of something new.

    I agree that 1/64th inch is too thick for N scale.
