I have subscribed continuously to Model Railroader since 1968, and I have been a member of the Santa Fe Modelers Assn in its various permutations since early 1970s. And I have catalogued a lot of the content. Prototype pictures of railroads that interest me (especially freight cars) by roadname, road class and car number.
I no longer subscribe to any of the magazines. I might do MR because of the large repository of content the have online. I continue to buy both N scale magazines at the LHS. If the LHS goes out of business... then I would consider subscriptions. Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH Fierce using Tapatalk
I subscribe to MR every month, also like their on-line videos. I like the N-scale content from David Popp and Jim Kelly but generally like all the articles.
Model Railroad Hobbyist Magazine TrainBoard Comeon...there are enough good threads and replies here on a daily basis to fill a magizine !!!
N Scale Railroading N Scale Both from hobby shop, when I get the urge to want to face Denver traffic!! The Prospector Official magazine of the Rio Grande Modeling and Historical Society. Have all magazines from the beginning. Maybe Model Railroader, IF I see an article of interest. Otherwise, a major layout or two, a couple small articles, a review of something and way too many ads!! IMO. Nothing online, except for a couple of Rio Grande specific groups and of course, TrainBoard. As others have stated, money is tight!
I subscribe to; Model Railroader N Scale Railroading Classic Trains Trains Model Railroad Hobbyist I am thinking about dropping MR because after reading the magazine for 14 years, they seem to be rehashing the same subjects over and over. And they don't have much about N scale and they seem to write more articles geared toward the Modern Era.
When I can more freely spend on the hobby I may gain a paid subscription or two but for now its MRH freezine and the quarterly Dispatcher's Office from the OPSIG group. There is so much quality content online I cannot see spending the cash for magazines anymore.
N Scale Railroading and Model Railroader. I am going to let my subscription to Model Railroader expire and not renew it after 30 years. I will look at MR in the store and if it intrests me I wll buy a copy then.
Fine Scale Modeler Classic Trains Narrow Gauge and Shoreline Gazette The Weathering Magazine (Google it.) Model Railroad Hobbiest Never saw much value in either of the N Scale magazines. Let MR go years ago. More for beginners.
Sad to admit, but I don't get any anymore, and haven't for some time. Sad because, I used to love looking at them when I was younger. So in that way, they're sentimental for me. However... It just seemed like MR was never the same after about the mid 90's. Most of the articles always seemed aimed at basics, and it wasn't as in-depth as the past years. I feel bad that they're having a tough time making it now, but I guess people like me are to blame.
If I were to ever subscribe again, I might consider Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette. Through the years, I have picked up a few copies. But then what have I missed in all those back issues= $$$.
