Just finishing up some work on Control System. Integrating JMRI and WiThrottle into an existing EasyDCC club layout. We currently have about 1000 Sq Ft of HO Layout. Ill Make this is a bit of a work in progress thread. But last night was play night. My own little totally fictional NYC modern excursion train. With proper power Some other images of the layout. Next Time I am up, I will take a bit of a photo tour, show everyone what is done, and what we are working on.
Having JMRI and the ability to use a smart phone or tablets as a throttle is a real treat. I can hardly explain how nice it is to walk around with an un-tethered throttle. Especially on such a big layout. I wont get into details here, but adding a computer with JMRI and a WIFI Router made programming and running locos so much better. Only downfall is you have to start over again with your consists and roster in JMRI (Not really that big of a deal). My only issue is remembering where I set down my throttle.
It's also nice to swipe back and forth to a second cab. The yard engine throttle is also nice. I agree it's almost magical to control trains unteathered. However it's also nice to have tactile feedback with actual buttons. I usually use my NCE power cab lately. I need to go wireless with it. Nice video by the way.
nice shots. I like the one of the track going under the bridge as well as the one of the steam engines on curves with fall colors.
Thanks you. We typically model mid 70s western New York (Penn Central / Early Conrail). But clearly members can run what interests them on normal club nights. The fall scene really pops. But it's a departure from the rest of the layout, which is spring summer. With the cooler weather returning it's nice to get back inside and start preparing for our January open house.
Heres a little Tour of whats going on at the club. start off with the mostly finished and in constant updating Steel Mill Hohawk Yard Nickle Yard Nickel Yard City / Skyline
Getting a little more work done this week. Plaster work and a day lighted tunnel in our Baker area. Say by to the old bottle brush trees Tore out and staring work near the Main Line at Nickel Work being done (Slowly) A decent overview of Cartwright.
Getting close to finishing up the park scene. Will be Pouring water in the pond and stream next week. Still need to finish up where the scenery meets the fascia in both areas, and add final details, long grass. Start of a dilapidated loading dock on abandoned track.
Many nice looking scenes. The Conrail power quite in evidence gives me some nice flashbacks to railfanning in KY many moons ago.
Hi euromut, That is a very nice scene, this kind of stuff inspires me. I'm curious though, why you didn't connect the stream with the pond? Between the stream and the pond looks like there is another bend in the stream. they look great, thank you for posting them. dale
To be honest the pond was an afterthought. It was originally going to be a grassy meadow. But the topology is so low on the layout, it screamed swamp or pond. It turned out to be a focal point of the scene. It still needs a little blending into the preexisting scenery, but our club open house is the next two weekends. So it will have to do for now. Thanks Shawn
