    Hi there,

I´m still not really happy with the lower level of my BCRail layout. There is a staging on the north end of Chetwynd but I don´t have any room for a staging on the south side...this should be a a problem in operation or maybe only in my head,lol...
In Chetwynd trains coming from the south will set out empty cars for Dawson Creek and go on to the north maybe with some loaded cars from DC set into the train into the hidden staging.Problem is that trains from the south have no staging to come from into Chetwynd.
And trains from the north(staging) will couple loaded cars from DC into the southbound train but don´t have tracks to go south...
    I hope you´ll understand what I mean...
Here are two pictures of the Chetwynd area
    South end:

I could add one or two tracks on that thing but it is not much....
North end with tracks on the left to the hidden staging below Chetwynd

The track to the staging going around the room and turn around under the helix and down below chetwynd. That was the plan and it works for the northend.
but I have no room on the south side to go through a loop and maybe also into the staging below Chetwynd.
Now my idea was to mount the Chetwynd area higher to the walls as a middle staging and the staging will be no more hidden. So Chetwynd will be a more hidden staging in between the upper and the lower level and leave enough place for some buildings and scenery on the former staging area what now will be Fort Nelson,BC.Fort Nelson is the northern end of the BC-Rail so there´s no need for a hidden staging on that side...Southbound trains from Fort Nelson will end in the hidden Chetwynd staging and also trains coming from Dawson Creek will end in the hidden Chetwynd staging....It´s some new benchwork to do etc but that will be no big problem...but before I´ll start demolishing the lower level maybe someone could point me into another direction or solution for my problem.
Any help will be very appreciated.

    Cheers;Chris

The Chetwynd yard is quite small without many tracks/ngsd and very few structures. The yard stands in a narrow valley and is (at least in part) at the foot of a small mountain, covered in aspen trees. As I recall, there is a metal office building and a small shop, with little else aside from a locomotive fueling station. The main line passes through the Canfor sawmill yard before cutting over Highway 97 before it then runs through a bit of the residential area then up the pine river valley (heading west) towards Hasler Flats andf on to Pine Pass then further wst to Prince Geoge where I live now. When I lived in Chetwynd the line passed my house down a little hill and cross the highway. I wasn't able to see trains passing by. In town they were frequently seen passing through and even more frequently cause for local frustration as they "made up" with no concern over the traffic piled up at crossings. incoming cars fro Dawso were left on the valley floor, in the yard, out of site from the street. Only by driving up Moberly hill towards the west Fraser sawmill could one see the railway activities in an overall sense.

Hi,thanks for the infos. No I have an idea how the scenery around the yard has to be done...I´ll stay with the yard as it is.I found some infos that the station and freight shed at Chetwynd were demolished due to structural deterioration in the early 90´.
    Regards,Chris
