I recently have purchased a 10 pack of DI Triplecrown roadrailers and I am wondering what color the back bumpers should be on the trailers? As I have been looking at prototype trailers I have seen some with black and also some with white bumpers, but I am unsure of what will look better. 2. Does a micro trains coupler conversion exist that will fit the Couplermate? Any help is appreciated, Alec Langkau
Here is a thread on this: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?118483-deluxe-inovations-roadrailers NEVERMIND! Thought you were talking about wheels
It will not take much time for the bumpers to be black, road dirt and rail dirt. I would make them black. Bob.
I'd still go white myself: Bumper Up: http://www.railcarphotos.com/PhotoDetails.php?PhotoID=46663 Bumper Down: http://www.triplecrownsvc.com/who-we-are-and-what-we-do/equipment-roadrailer-tofc-reefer-container
White is the way to go, and then heavily weather to match the trailer bodies themselves. If you are modeling a set that has been in service for a while, Bob Horn is correct, but you need to knock the shine off the plastic even so. The photos James is showing are fairly new pieces from Wabash, so they haven't got the "yuck" yet. In the main, the bumper bar stays sort of white, but it gets dirty really quickly. As to a conversion to MTL, you can rig a cross member with a 1015 on your couplermates if you feel the need.
HI just remove the coupler cover and put in a mtl coupler in the box and put the cover back on. that is what I did.
