Hiya, guys (and gals?. Don't know if anyone remembers me, but I was active on the Atlas, Trainboard and Railwire forums for quite a few years. I haven't done much forumming(?) or RRing for a couple of years, but still did some lurking during that time. The problem I referred to in the title of the thread is this: I tried to log in on the RW forum and was "told" there's no such username as "jym" which I've used on all the forums for the past 15 (?) years. I tried to re-register using my iPad iCloud eMail address and a different user-name and was turned down for reasons unknown. Since some of you probably are members of Railwire, too, do you know of any way I can contact someone in admin to see what the problem is? I would appreciate it very much. Sorry if this post doesn't belong in this forum, I don't know what else to do.

I've had the same problem with Railwire. No idea why I was never accepted. So I figure it is just not worth the effort, the time or brains cells to bother with them.

    Hi, Jym.

I'm a Railwire member, and I just did a quick check of The Railwire's members. I found a "jym1" who signed up on June 6th of this year but hasn't made any posts as of yet? Could that be you?

If so, let me know here and I'll contact The Railwire for you and see if we can get you activated so you can post.

    Hmm... even I can post
    on The Railwire...

There should be a contact email, usually found on most sites, for public inquiries. If not, that is surprising. There are many options available these days to site owners. They might have something set up to filter out duplicate membership attempts. This is normally an anti-spammer technique.

You're quite welcome to hang out here!

Railwire is going through a reorganization process. I recently tried to get in but forgot my password. They recognized me and sent me a new password. Now I can get in to my profile and reset things up the way I want it. So, in conclusion they are up and running.

Still like others here, I didn't feel welcomed on RW and as a result, I pretty much hang out here. Most websites are clickish and we aren't any different. You'll find some of your old friends from the A board hanging out here. We have a ignore feature and I think there are those who use it almost exclusively. Lurk, hang-out and participate like silent movie stars. There's a good group of guys and gals here on TB. You'd be welcome to hang out with us here.

    The best to you.

Kiz is correct, there is a valid account for jym1 who appears to have never logged in, and has a .jp email address that appears to be you. Confusingly, there is also a JMaurer1 from California who has been fairly active lately. (Any relation?) Perhaps the admins confused you with that user. I can let Tom know of your plight.

By the way, there is no reason you shouldn't participate here and there. Both fora have a lot to offer.

    Jim,

Another admin on the RW reached out to you since we noticed similar usernames coming from the same IP address in Japan. The latest one that you attempted to create an account with (mid July 2014) was rejected due to the existing jym1 one (created on June 6 2014).

Sorry you didn't feel welcomed Rick. You can also ignore both users and threads on the RW.

I had the same problem trying to sign up for one of the other forums (forget the name now,, oh well..) when Atlas closed their forums, and finally gave up.. I just figured it was somebody that didn't like ZugDCC behind it...

I lurk here now, and post once in a while too.
