Worker Train Arriving at Union Station in Terre Haute, 1942
Workers are shown getting off the train, walking toward the parking lot or train station. They are all men, most of whom are wearing work clothes and carrying lunch pails. The train depot is in the background. Freight carts are parked near the tracks.

It appears to be evening with the men coming home. Where would they have been working that was close enough to a station to commute by train? Also, what is the tall building behind the station?

Those cars are C&EI, so they were most likely runnin north or south. They used Union station, along with PRR an NYC… Milw had their own farther east.

Could be defense work or RR work ? some look like they are wearing RR caps ( kind made from mattress ticking ).
