Hi there, I want to say helly from Germany.I´m new to this forum but not so new to modelrailroad building.I started some years ago with my first layout in the basement of our house in 2009 but never finished it. Started over in 2011 with a complete redo but haven´t changed the timeperiod and location of it.So now I´m building the British Columbia Railway Dawson Creek Subdivision in the early 70´s shortly after the namechange from Pacific Great Eastern to British Columbia Railway.More details of the construction will be posted on my building thread...I´m building in H0 Scale. I´m into modelbuilding since some years but most of it was 1:24/25 US-Cars and Trucks and some Dioramas and also some 1:35 scale military modeling... Searching through the internet for some research for my layout I was often linked to this site and finaly decided to register... Kind Regards,Chris
Welcome aboard, Chris! Loved the time I got to spend in your country, although the closest I ever came to you was Schweinfurt. And I also share the modelling distraction, albeit into 1/72 scale. Sounds like you're well into the planning, and hope you'll share some of your ideas and progress with us.
Thanks for joining in and participating. It is always good to get new ideas in input from all corners of the globe.
Welcome to TrainBoard! Long ago I did some military model building: OO, 1/72, 1/76 scales. That was a lot of fun, but model railroading (N) has always been the best.
Hi Chris, welcome, glad to have you on board. Please continue with photos and discussion when you are able.
Howdy from Texas. Glad you're here. I first read about the BC predecessor Pacific Great Eastern in a layout design in Kalmbach's "101 Track Plans" back in 1960s. Sounds like a fantastic prototype. I spent a week in 1971 in West Berlin as a press guest of Presse und Information Gesamt Landes Berlin, rode the S-Bahn and U-Bahn all over. under the over The Wall, built a 27 inch by 34 inch (686 x 860 mm) N scale layout based on my very sketchy impression of Berlin. Happy railroading, happy modeling, happy Trainboarding.
Hi there, thanks for the welcome.Someday I´ll make a visit to Canada and the US... Never heard about that PGE Layout....I´ll take a look to the Kalmbach DVD´s. Travelled to Berlin back in the 90´s. Have a lot to read here, very interesting and a lot of great infos and tips and fantastic layouts Kind Regards,Chris
Welcome aboard, Chris! I'm a transplanted American as well, spent thew last 4 1/2 years in Kaiserslautern area. I love it here in Germany and have traveled as much as I can all over this beautiful country. Berlin was my most favorite city, although I am planning a trip to München this month. My top city may change! I model in N scale as well, although my layout is crated for a move back across the pond at some oint in the near future.
Hi, I´ve never been in Kaiserslautern but was born in München...thought about a small N scale switching layout some time ago and bought the wood for the modules but then build them as an addition to my current layout. If you have time before you move back to travel to Cologne or Düsseldorf you´re very welcome to visit my BCR layout... Regards,Chris
