I read about this on another forum and did a search here and couldn't find any info regarding this news. Apparently he passed away on January 27, 2013. The last post on his thread, New Layout: The CSX Dixie Line was January 17, 2013. R.I.P. Jamie. Jamie Schatte obituary.

    Regards,
    Charles

What a shame. Jamie was a very talented modeler who had a most realistic layout working. Sympathy to his family.

Sudden passing at any age is sure sad. If he was as the age showed in his profile, far too young to be gone. :(

    Bummer...RIP Jamie

I always enjoyed his layout and progress reports. Way to young to be gone already. Condolences to his family and friends.

That's a shame. He seemed to be having a lot of fun, and appeared to be one of the good guys.

Wow! Sad news. At 47 he was seven years younger than me.

I actually just googled a few days ago specifically to find something on his blog (paint colors for southern sky). I'm having power wired to my shed and will actually start the slow process of getting ready to build a layout.

I always admired Jamie's work. Seeing what he's done with CSX reinforces my desire for the option of two eras.

Jamie's background colors will become my background colors. His efforts will live on in one tiny corner of Georgia.

RIP Jamie; prayers to your family.

I've followed Jamie's blog for years, and often wondered why it hasn't been updated in quite a while. He was a talented modeler who was building an excellent prototypically based layout. Sadly we will never see it completed, even sadder is the loss to his family at so young an age. RIP, hope he's in a better place.
