Not liking some of the prices on vehicles I did some of my own. Nothing fancy and some creative use of styrene. Only the one on the right is a commercial vehicle. And a few more. The one on the left has a canvas cover over the cargo box using some wrapping tissue.
I don't have handy pics of just vehicles but here are some in pics I have on railimages. used a Walthers N tanker, Microscale filling station letters- and I modified “Frisco” decal lettering to make the script Phillips. I used Classic Metal Works reefer delivery truck, but I thought my transition era layout was too far back for mechanical refrigeration units, so I sawed them off. In their place, I painted a blue rectangle and individual letters for the white “ICE.” Top picture, various resin vehicles painted in Navy gray at base vehicle maintenance facility (building is half-length scratch copy of prototype abandoned-base building I photographed.) Bottom picture, Walthers resin tank truck painted as Naval aviation fuel truck at fuel dump, truck lettering and fuel dump based on 1950 Navy base yearbook photos. Mini-figs cast metal N jeep painted as navy gray jeep and resin 1950 sedan painted as admiral’s car.
Railway Express N tracked crane, metal log truck (don’t remember mftr), 2nd log truck modified from cheap plastic model... all vehicles and logging-company-owned diesel at left edge of pic in light green logging company colors (based on Texas Southeastern RR proto diesel) Classic Metal Works and resin vehicles to fill the parking lot of a popular “logging” theme cookhouse restaurant in a lumber mill town. A convertible makes a mini-scene in front of a gas station when it has three attractive young ladies and a chaperone aunt in it asking for directions- and both the gas pump attendant and the mechanic want to help them- and the station owner wants to send the employees back to work and see to the ladies himself.
I couldn’t find a good sitting Mommy figure for this convertible (Classic Metal Works if I remember correctly). This inspired a scene where Mom had to park one spot down from the no-parking fire zone right in front of the moviehouse when she went to pick up the kids, and she had to get out of her car because the kids refused to look for her anywhere except directly in front of the theater. Classic Metal Works and resin cars- The Messy Family teenagers (left) always have friends over for loud messy parties in the front yard while Mrs. Neatnik (right) stews about the negative impact on her prize lawn. One plaster and two resin school buses in front of Johnston High School, home of the Lumberjacks. It was always summer on my layout, so school’s out, buses were parked.
Here are two that I have done this past spring. The tractor on the LPG unit is a Sunrise Enterprises ( I think that is the company ) and the trailer is totally scratched from Parts from Plastruct. The second truck/trailer unit is made from an "N Scale Addicts " Pete tractor. The tractor tank and the trailer were made from some old Route 66, Con Cor, trailers. Hope you enjoy and thanks for looking. Carl

You can almost hear the “In the land of Dixie” horn. Visiting hours are between. . . And more vehicles; late of this world.
