Is this even possible? I've RS1s RS3s and a GP7 or two, that I'd love to use . They were purchased in 88 or 89 and have been in dry storage ever since. They seem to run great, and they would work out great, but most of what I have is DCC equipped so the layout is going to be DCC wired.... maybe a separate, electrically isolated area for the old stuff is in order.
Or put a decoder in them. The CN series from TCS fit most older locomotive with just a little milling to provide routing for the motor leads.
Chopper, the CN or CN-GP series (look at the TCS website for applications) are designed perfectly for Atlas backfits. I've done a bunch of them on my own late 80s Atlas engines and they work great.
Yes, the CN and CN GP are great decoders for those locomotives. I have several installed and they give those locomotives a new life!
EXCELLENT......I really didn't want them to end up as static scenery items.....and now they won't. I'll start searching for a deal on CN decoders.....looks like 12 of them are gonna be needed. Thanks for the fast response!.....think I'm gonna like it here
