awaiting parts from the "motorman" to update and re-motor 3 minitrix 4-6-2's have already replaced the tenders with Bachmann's they should be coming any week now can't wait in the mean time I am converting minitrix 2-10-0 to Bachmann tenders for better electrical pickup these will be re-motored later on Gary
I am painting a Kato PA-1 in American Freedom Train colors. I have a Life Like painted that way already but wanted another locomotive to run on DCC. This is the old Life Like engine I have already painted.
I'm superdetailing an Athearn Big Boy as a pilot project for the rest of my Big Boy and Challenger roster. Got the flu back in November and was ill enough with it so that I was unable to do any work on this project for nearly 4 months. Should be finished with it sometime in the middle of April...then on to the rest of my BB's & Challengers! Will post pics and specs after I'm finished deciding at to what level I'm going to take this. Cheerio! Bob Gilmore
Hi Can't resist adding to my roster for the Incomplete and Undecorated Railroad. I think it's doable. I think a plausible C-415 can be built using available parts. The diagrams show what I am planning to do, and how I may construct the hoods. This photo is what I threw together to test fit a few bits. The cab is from a C40-8, the fuel tank is a shortened C-628, and the piece of flat top hood ahead of the cab, is actually what was left of the fuel tank. This is one of the few Alco-MLW locos that can't be put together easily. Others on my list are RS-23 (Maybe a candidate for Mr Brigg's fine kits), and an RSD-17 and RS-27. All of which I've built in my earlier modeling years, and then been unhappy with later, when available parts have improved. I may even build a C-636F to go with my C-636P. Cheers Steve Steve
My current projects, all are being detailed right now: 3 BNSF C44-9Ws 1 ILSX SD40-2 (ex-BNSF) 1 DMIR SD38-2 1 TCWR CF7 1 CN SD40-2W (Brass Cab) 1 CN RDC Track Inspection Vehicle I'm forgetting a few, last I looked I had 14 engines I was working on.
My first Loco project is going to be, putting a CN Decoder in all those Atlas/ Kato units I've been storing for 25 years.....time to run them at last! Looks like 17 to do in all....I should line 'em all up and take a picture.....but that may just make the task seem MORE daunting (and pricey!)
Steve, Here is a project from years ago that I never finished (SP unit). I may still have some of the sides or molds used for this, would you like them if I can locate them? John
As a resurrected member (joined 7 years ago but never posted) my current project is an 0-4-0 tank engine for which I have a full set of drawings in 7.25" scale. The drawings are for a steam locomotive, but the model will be scaled down to O gauge, and fitted with a normal 12v motor. I expect this to take some time. For anyone interested, a photo of the model can be found at www.mjeng.co.uk. Dennis
Here is a loco I worked on the last couple days. Gavin is trying to get me to model BNSF and I think I am falling for it. Added Fire Cracker and moved horn as well as the blocked out BN to BNSF. The only thing I didn't want to tackle is the low headlight. Waiting for Digitrax K1C. Mike
Part of my problem until recently has been an inability to airbrush. As a result, I have quite the backlog that I need to start finishing. That said, VIA rail: A FPA & FPB-2u, a F40PH, & an LRC. CP Rail: A C630M (Two shells for the same locomotive), a M-630, A RSD-17, a GP-38AC, a RS-18, a RS-2, a FA-1, a FB-2, a S-2, a SW9u or SW1200RS. CN Rail: A F7Au, a RS-18 (fortunately this is mostly just a repainting/redecalling job), a RSC-14, & a light GP9. TH&B: A GP-9, & a SW-9. And this is before you factor in my passenger car fleet projects and layout electronics projects. And heaven help me since there is a chance I may end up with one more locomotive to work on within a month.
As always I have too many things I'm working on. Right now my main projects are a Life Like E7 AB set that I am super detailing and adding sound to: Second is NS 6920: And lastly HLCX 6216, this one is pretty much finished, I just need to weather it:
One of my current loco projects just to show that I have not given up. The devil made me do it ! ! ! I know the images are bad, I have not found a good light source, but here are two of the EM-1 rebuild. After I complete the decals and the pilot I will weather quite heavily............................. The tender is all ready to install a decoder and re-install trucks and drawbar and let her rip. The mechanism needs cleaning and then it will be ready. It will not look right 'till it is weathered quite heavily. But it is coming along. Carl
I have been acquiring parts and locos to start my "fleet" or RJ Corman SD40-2's. I have a mid-production SD now and am looking for a snoot to do the pair. The Snoot has low ditchlights so I can skip trying SMLED's and go with fiber optic light pipes instead! Yay!
Hey Mike, Thanks. The BNSF is looking good, but I have a question. Are diesels really a locomotive? ? ? Nothing like a steamer with all those moving parts. Aint they purdy? Carl
