I finally fulfilled a longtime desire to acquire a large number of Norfolk and Western 55 ton coal hoppers (30 to be exact). I need to change some of the road numbers since I couldnt buy all different road numbers. Can anyone tell me the font or point me in the direction of decals for these hoppers. If it makes any difference I bought 20 MTL and 10 Atlas cars. Thanks in advance.

A picture of these cars would be a big help. I could not find any specific N&W 2 bay hopper decals. Can you measure the numbers and tell us how high they are?

yeah sorry about that I was going to post some pics just never got around to it. Here they are: IMAG0015.jpg The MTL car is on the left and the Atlas car is on the right. When I measured the numbers the MTL car came out to be 1.35 mm or 3/64 in tall and the Atlas was 1.16 mm and 3/64 in tall. Once again thanks in advance.

I have never renumbered any cars yet. I have noticed it is very hard to slice numbers in. Would be best to change the whole number. Same diference of numbers wouldn't be as noticeable.

You might want to try a custom decal maker but that could be expensive for just numbers for only thirty cars. Also the two cars appear to have different lettering with the 'N&W' on the Atlas car being larger, possibly 24 inch while the MTL might be 17 inch. Hard for me to tell but the numbers may be the same size. Your best bet might just be to use them as is and wait for the H2a hoppers that BLI has announced. These were N&W designed hoppers and BLI says they will produce them in multiple numbers. However, they too will be expensive.
