Ok need a lite help from one a little more experienced. I have some boxes to use for car cards. My question is placement on the fascia. How high or how low? Here is a pic showing my idea. Not just sure for placement. The boxes are made from electrical gang boxes.

Low, I think. Prevent hands from bumping anything on layout from cards above ground level.

I placed mine high because that's about all I could manage thanks to the fact that 2/3 of my benchwork sits over a 40" high wall that hides some plumbing and is about 27" deep(picture having a bar along a wall in your basement, just without the booze). I keep my cards in boxes I built out of some spare poplar and attached to my currently small fascia. The tops of the cards end up peaking out over the top of the boxes and up above the layout edge.

I recommend LOW, but not so low that they are thigh height. I'm constantly bumping cards around when I need to reach onto the layout. I'm still adding some more track. Once that's done I'll add a fascia to carry that lower and help organize the wiring (also not helped by only having a couple of inches clearance between that wall and the bottom of my layout's baseboard).

Try a few low and a few high and see what works for you. You could use white glue, or a small dab of hot glue, to tack them in place. Either are easy to undo.

Go with what you like best

I'd go with the small dabs of hot glue suggestion.
