This is an N-Scale model of a new IDEA for real Railroads where electrical locomotive depot with positioning system exists! The substance of this idea - divertion bridge catenary from catenary near turntable ADVANTAGES: No any catenary spider over the turntable! No any loco throw off out of the bridge by turning! No need of pantograph lowering ! At model: Catenary works as additional DCC Phase. Pantograph is connected to decoder's rectifier and powerpack via additional diode shoulder. Walthers turntable was subjected to serious modification: 1) Underdish stationary precision gear with adjustable backlash hysteresis was installed. (original one - completely removed from bridge - was very chineeze) 2) Feedback optical sensors added. 3) Bridge catenary motion solenoid added. 4) Bridge edge optical sensors added. 5) Fast Rail Polarity reverse switch added. 6) Right optocouple added for galvanical isolation of DCC from turntable electronics and for work with independent galvanically isolated transformers(DCC trottle and turntable trottle). All mechanics is adopted for original trottle electronics. ----------- Vadim
Vadimav, That is very impressive. I will have to study your pictures and wording, but I am impressed. I sure wish there were some comercially available Russian locomotives and rolling stock. Thanks for posting.
I was just watching your video of this turntable/catenary operation. Very interesting, including the sound effects.
Vadimav, Wow - that is a fantastic engineering/lighting/electronics/catenary effort. Your style is always unique! Mike
Congratulations on a wonderful piece of engineering, I am immensely impressed. Thank you for posting all those pictures too, it really made it easy to take it all in
Thanks to all for Your responds! Please, also tellaboput Your experience of using/modifying/feedbacking your turntables? It would be quite interesting! ---------- Vadim
