Could someone please offer some advice here. I recently upgraded from a NCE PowerCab to and the SB5. I use both the PowerCab and a reasonably new cab06. My understanding was that the SB5 allows up to 6 recalls on throttles used with it. I only seem to be able to get 2 recalls on both the PowerCab (being used as a throttle) and the Cab06. The PowerCab is an older version that only allows 2 cabs. Should I not have 6 cabs available on my throttles??? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers from sunny and hot Perth, Australia.

Aaron, Check the cab parameters using the menus on your Powercab. Also check what version chip is in your Powercab. I believe you gain the 6 recalls with version 1.65. If you have the 1.28 version you will need to upgrade it for $25, but also ask NCE if the SB5 needs an update too. I am not sure if it was the SB5 or the SB3 that had an update to go along with the 1.65 upgrade chip.

Thanks for the advice. I'll send a query off to NCE. Cheers

    Hi Aaron -

If you have the Power Cab with firmware version 1.28, you have only two recalls. Adding the SB5 does not increase the number of recalls.

If you have the Power Cab with firmware version 1.65, you can have up to six recalls, but the Power Cab is set to two recalls as it comes from the factory. You change the number of recalls in the Cab Parameters section of the Power Cab setup. See the Power Cab 1.65 manual, page 60.

Other than the difference in the number of recalls, are there any other features in 1.65 that would benefit upgrading from 1.28.
    Thanks, Aaron.

Are you planning on getting the USB Computer Interface and use Decoder Pro to program your chips?

If yes, then you need to upgrade to v1.65 as it won't work with v1.28 - it needs v1.28c as a minimum, which NCE included with the Interface as a free upgrade on its initial release. It's not included now.

If no, I'd still advise upgrading because it just works better than v1.28
